Water treatment systems that use the ion exchange method remain an industry standard. The basiac technology for softening water is softening based on strongly acidic ions, regenerated with brine. MCC offers a wide range of devices equipped with a single column (device supplies hard water during regeneration) or two columns, working in a pendulum setting (providing a constant flow of softened water).

In the case a higher efficiency is necessary, or in the case of particularly high hardness water, multiple columns can be used, functioning in parallel. Devices are available with efficiencies in range from 1 to 100 m³/h. Besides the usual ion exchange beds, more specialized blends are also used, ones like Ecomix, which allows for both softening water and removing chemical solutions of iron and manganese.
